High School Basketball:

The Northumberland Nighthawks captured the Division 1 Baseball Regionals last Friday in Truro defeating CEC Cougars 13-3 and North Nova Gryphons15-5 to win the Northumberland Region banner. The Nighthawks now advance to the provincial championship in Cape Breton October 18-19.

MHL:

The Pictou County Weeks JR A Crushers dropped a game to the Summerside Western Capitals this weekend 2-1. Evan Gallant scored the only goal for the Crushers.
They’re back in action this Thursday against the Bearcats.

Bombers:

The Wearwell Bombers defeated the South Shore Lumberjacks 8-1.

Junior B:

The Pictou County Scotians lost to the Cole Harbour Colts 4-3 yesterday.

NSFMMHL:

The Subway Selects played two games this weekend, on Saturday they defeated Fundy National 8-2. On Sunday they defeated the Fundy Nationals 5-2.

AUS:

In men’s soccer, the X-Men defeated the Mounties 5-0, the women’s soccer team also defeated the Mounties 5-0.

In hockey the StFX X-Women defeated Dal 4-1.

In women’s rugby StFX defeated the Acadia Axewomen 57-12.

NFL:

Last night the Colts beat Kansas City 19-13.
The Eagles hammered the Jets 31-6
The Bills beat the Titans 14-7.
The Patriots got by Washington 33-7.

NHL:

The Islanders downed the Jets 4-1.
The Red Wings one-upped the Stars 4-3.
The Hurricanes beat the Lightning 4-3 in OT.
