Special Olympics:
Special Olympics Nova Scotia Athletes and Coaches are in Abu Dhabi for the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games Opening Ceremonies. 6 Athletes who competed in the 2018 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games hosted this past August in Antigonish, have qualified to represent Canada.
Participants from the local area include Cathy Mason (Stellarton)- Mission staff for Basketball, Ross MacIntosh (Westville) – Head Coach, Power Lifting, Andrew Heighton (Antigonish)- Mission Staff for Bowling, and Kristina Richards (Antigonish)- Athlete competing in Track.
Congratulations to the Pictou County Snipers, Special Olympic Hockey Team who will be going to Toronto in May! You guys deserve it!
MHL:
Maritime Hockey League playoffs begin tonight as the Truro Bearcats take on the Yarmouth Mariners in Yarmouth.
Yarmouth has won all 7 games so far this year against Truro, outscoring them 34-15.
PCMHL:
Round 2 of the playoffs begin this Saturday for the Northern AAA Subway Selects, They face off against the Station Six Fire this Saturday at 2:15 and Sunday at 12:15! Come on out to the Wellness Centre and cheer on the Selects! The winner of this best of 3 playoff series will go on to play in the Atlantics next month in New Brunswick.
