Weeks Crushers:
There’s a new head coach in Crusher Country, the Weeks JR A Crushers have announced former NHL, AUS and EBEL player, Mike Danton as their new Head Coach. Mike posted the following on twitter, “Pretty excited to join the @weekscrushers this season as head coach. Thanks to the ownership group as well and Pictou County and @THEMHL for taking a chance on me and affording me the opportunity to help a good group of kids succeed on and off the ice!” Mike has done a great job in turning his life around after running into legal issues in 2004. Since his return to Canada in 2011, Danton would play 2 years of AUS hockey with the Saint Mary’s University Huskies before playing the last 7 years overseas.
Pictou County FC:
Pictou County FC will be holding a walk-in registration for its summer soccer program on Thursday, May 2nd from 6pm-7pm at Walter Duggan School in Westville.

Fred Page Cup:
The Fred Page Cup began yesterday in Amherst and both MHL teams were in action.
The Princeville Titan defeated the MHL Champion Yarmouth Mariners by a score of 3-2 despite being outshot 46-32.
The Ottawa JR A Senators took down the Amherst Ramblers 4-1. Former Weeks Major Midget Jacob Melanson scored the only goal for the Ramblers.
Yarmouth and Amherst face off against each other tonight at 7:30.
QMJHL:
The QMJHL Finals begin tonight in Rouyn Noranda as the Huskies take on the Halifax Mooseheads to see who will hoist the Presidents Trophy.
MLB:
In baseball,
The Boston Red Sox would allow 2 runs in the 9th inning against the A’s, good thing they were up by 6 runs when it happened, the Red Sox get the win 7-3.
The Diamondbacks keep on rolling as they sweep the Yankees with a 3-2 win.
The Cubbies are dominating lately, they defeated the Mariners 11-0.
The Angles scored 4 in the 4th and that would be enough as they feed the Jays a final score of 6-3.
NBA:
Only 1 game in the pro’s last night…
The Portland Trailblazers took down the Nuggets 97-90 last night to even the series at 1-1.
Tonight the Raptors will tangle with the 76ers in game 3, the series is currently tied at 1-1.
NHL:
The Carolina Hurricanes have defeated the New York Islanders 5-2 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead. Teuvo Teravainen (2), Justin Faulk, Justin Williams (GWG) and Sebastian Aho scored for the Jerks. Devon Toews and Josh Bailey scored for the Islanders.
Curtis McElhinney made 28-saves to earn the win.
The Dallas Stars have defeated the St Louis Blues 4-2 and tied the best of 7 series at 2-2. Jason Dickinson, Jason Spezza, John Klingberg and Roope Hintz scored for the Stars, Vladimir Tarasenko and Robert Thomas scored for the Blues. Ben Bishop made 27 saves in the win.
Tonight, It’s game 4 between the Bruins and the Blue Jackets.. Columbus leads that series 2-1. That puck drops at 8:30.
Game 4 between San Jose and Colorado is tonight at 11. San Jose currently leads that series 2-1.
