Fred Page Cup:
JR “A” hockey has ended for the year and for the second straight season the Ottawa Jr. Senators have won the Fred Page Cup! They picked up a convincing 9-2 win over the Princeville Titan in the finals yesterday. The MHL had a poor showing overall with just 1 win between the Mariners and Ramblers in 6 games played. The Mariners lost all 3 of their games and the Ramblers went 1-2, their only win coming against Yarmouth.
QMJHL:
Game 3 is tonight in Halifax between the Rouyn Noranda Huskies and the Halifax Mooseheads as they battle it out for the Presidents Cup. Right now the series is tied up at 1-1.
145th Kentucky Derby:
Longshot Country House crossed the finish line second at the Kentucky Derby on Saturday but was declared the winner after second-favorite Maximum Security was disqualified for interference.
NASCAR:
After a rain delay all weekend, the Drivers head to Dover today to continue the Monster Energy Cup Series, that race begins at 1.
MLB:
The Yankees scored a pair in the 2nd and another in the 4th to upend the Twins 4-1.
The Cubs unloaded on the Cardinals and get the first series sweep of the season between the two rivals, 13-5.
The Red Sox drive 7 runs in in the 8th inning to rally past the White Sox 9-2.
The Rangers scored 3 runs in the 2nd and 3rd inning and wouldn’t look back, hammering the Jays 10-2.
NBA:
The Denver Nuggets tie up their series with the Portland Trailblazers with a big 116-112 win, that matchup is now even at 2-2.
The Raptors get back to even with the 76ers last night winning 101-96. That series is also even at 2-2.
NHL:
We’ve got a game 7 on the way folks, last night the St Louis Blues defeated the Dallas Stars 4-1 to even that series at 3-3 and force a 7th and deciding game. Alex Pietrangelo, David Perron, Jaden Schwartz and Sammy Blais scored for the Blues, Tyler Seguin with the lone tally for the Stars. Jordan Binnington made 22 saves in the win.
Tonight elimination is in the air as two teams try and punch their tickets to the Conference Finals. The late game which kicks off at 11pm features the San Jose Sharks and the Colorado Avalanche in Colorado, the Sharks could eliminate the Avalanche with a win tonight.
In the 8pm early game, the big bad Bruins are looking to eliminate the Blue Jackets and punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals. That game will be played in Columbus.
