QMJHL:
The Rouyn Noranda Huskies scored 4 goals in the first period and that would be more than enough to get the win over the Halifax Mooseheads 6-3. They also outshot the Mooseheads 45-21. The Huskies take a 3-2 series lead with a chance to win the Presidents Cup in Halifax tomorrow night.
World Hockey Championship:
The IIHF World Hockey Championship begins this morning from Slovakia.
Team Canada and Finland get the tournament started at 11:15 this morning.
Norway and Russia tangle at the same time.
The host Slovakia plays the United States at 3:15pm
Sweden and the Czech Republic get underway at 3:15 as well.
Sweden has won the last 2 gold medals, Canada’s last win comes in 2016
Baseball:
The Yankees beat the Mariners 3-1, improving their record to 22-15.
The Cubs picked up another big win over the Marlins, 4-1.
NBA:
The Portland Trailblazers notched a big win last night over the Nuggets 119-108, that series is now tied at 3-3.
Speaking of big wins, how about those 76ers hey? They pulled away last night and defeated the Raptors 112-101 to force a 7th and deciding game.
NHL:
What a 3rd period from the Boston Bruins! They used their powerplay the right way scoring 2 ppg in less than a minute to pull ahead and eventually defeat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2. Steve Kampfer, Marcus Johansson, Patrice Bergeron, Charlie Coyle and Chris Wagner with the goals for the Bruins, Sebastian Aho and Greg McKegg with the tallies for the Canes. Rask made 29 saves in the win.
No hockey tonight…. The Western Conference Finals begins tomorrow night when the St Louis Blues make the trip to San Jose to face the Sharks.

Team Canada’s John Tavares will miss the 2019 IIHF World Hockey Championships after sustaining an oblique injury in practice.He will return to Toronto and be evaluated by the Maple Leafs medical staff.
