Local Ball:

The Stellarton and Area Minor Girls Softball Association, Home of the Subway Stingers is hosting the 2019 Softball NS Female U-16 Provincial Championship this weekend at the Dorrington Complex in Stellarton. Action begins Friday night at 6 pm withe Stingers hosting Highland Park on Dorrington Field-1

Games continue Saturday with the Stingers playing at 11 am and 3 pm on Field-1. Sunday sees the round robin action conclude with the Stingers playing Cole Harbour at 10 am. Followed by the second place vs third place game from the round robin portion at 12 pm with the winner facing the first place team from the round robin at 2 pm for the championship. All games Sunday are on Dorrington Field-1

MHL:

Congratulations to former Weeks Jr A Crusher Captain and all time points and assists leader, Michael Dill. HE has committed to play hockey for the Dalhousie Tigers this year.  The Tigers open their season at home when they host StFX on September 25

Rangers pitcher Kolby Allard went 5.2 innings with 5 strike outs to lead Texas to a big 7-3 win over the Jays, Danny Santana went 3-5 with 3 runs and 3 RBI’s.

CFL:

Week 10 gets underway tonight in the CFL, the B.C Lions visit Winnipeg to tangle with the Blue Bombers. Kickoff is at 9:30 tonight.
