Cam Ward has signed a one-day contract with the Carolina Hurricanes and announced his retirement from professional hockey at the age of 35.
Ward played parts of 14 NHL seasons for the Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks, putting up a 334-256-88 record with a 0.908 SV%, a 2.74 GAA and 27 shutouts.
He would win the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy as a rookie in 2006
