MHL:

The Weeks Jr A Crushers have acquired a 20 year old defenseman, Keenan Gillis from the Valley Wildcats. Keenan scored 27 points in 50 games last year for the Edmundston Blizzard.

Local Hockey:

The Subway Selects opened up the NSFMHL preseason with an 11-1 win over the Chevy Panthers.

In NSMMHL, the Weeks Major Midgets defeated the Kohltech Valley Wildcats 3-0.

StFX:

On Saturday the StFX X-Women rugby team began defense of their 2018 U SPORTS national title with a pair of pre-season exhibition games against conference rival Acadia. The two teams split their squads and the X-Women came out on top of both games, winning 46-29 and 36-0.

Freshman quarterback Charles Aubry went 27-37 for 264 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday night in the Bishop’s Gaiters home opener as they beat the No. 7 ranked StFX X-Men 32-19 in front of a raucous Coulter Field crowd.

Tennis:

Canada’s Bianca Andreescu has reached the quarterfinals at the US Open. Andreescu toppled American Taylor Townsend in fourth-round play on Monday 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.

CFL:

Jackson Bennett and Bralon Addison scored fourth-quarter touchdowns as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats rallied for a 38-27 Labour Day win over the Toronto Argonuats on Monday.

Softball:

A 7th inning walk off homer gives Canada a 7-0 mercy rule over Brazil that automatically earns them a birth in the 2020 Toyko Olympics.

Fundy Highland AA Evaluation sessions
Evaluation sessions for Fundy Highland AA teams for the 2019-2020 season will take place at the Pictou County Wellness Centre and the Rath Eastlink Community Centre, beginning on Sept. 9.
