CFL:
The Canadian Football League has officially cancelled their 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It marks the first year the Grey Cup won’t be presented since 1919.
The league was unable to secure financing from the federal government after presenting Ottawa with a $30-million, interest-free loan request Aug. 3 to stage an abbreviated 2020 campaign. News of the deal falling through broke Sunday night.
NBA:
The Toronto Raptors handily defeated the Nets in game one, 134-110.
NHL:
The Lightning push the Blue Jackets to the brink of elimination, defeating them 2-1.
The Avalanche absolutely lit up the Coyotes 7-1 to take a 3-1 series lead.
The Bruins also took a 3-1 lead, defeating the Hurricanes 4-3.
The Blues evened their series with the Canucks 2-2 with a 3-1 win.
