N.S. RECORDS HIGH TEMPERATURES THIS WEEK

If you’re waking up after a day off work yesterday, you’re in the province with bragging rights to the warmest locations in Canada over the past 48 hours. More than two dozen record high temperatures have been set across Nova Scotia these past two days of the mini-heat wave. Antigonish hit 24 degrees for a new record on Tuesday that had stood for 70 years, and Pictou County officially hit 22 degrees at the Caribou Point Weather Station that same afternoon. But inland locations like Scotsburn and Saltsprings hit highs of 23 and 24 degrees that day. Greenwood was also among the warmest places in the province, breaking a 72-year-old record on Tuesday, and setting another new record during yesterday’s Remembrance Day holiday. To top it off, Sydney recorded its warmest November day EVER yesterday, and new record highs were also recorded in the November heat wave at Port Hawkesbury, Halifax, Parrsboro, Shearwater, Cheticamp, Kentville and Yarmouth. A lot of people took advantage of yesterday’s nice weather to put up their outdoor Christmas decorations, but most say they won’t be lighting them up until later.
PROVINCE ANNOUNCES FUNDING TO IMPROVE ACCESSIBILITY ***UPDATED**

The province wants to correct a mistake from one of their earlier news releases about provincial grant money for Pictou County accessibility projects over the coming year. Three projects that we left off this year’s list include: just over $3600 for St. Luke’s United Church in Saltsprings, a grant for non-slip flooring at the River John Legion and money for the Dalhousie Mountain Snowmobile Club, for improved accessibility at that facility. Some of the other projects on this morning’s list are just wrapping up from last year.
RCMP INVESTIGATING FATAL FIRE IN GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY

A man has been found dead after a house fire Tuesday evening in Guysborough County. That blaze took place in a house on MacPherson Lake Road in Port Shoreham at 8:35 that night. Crews found a 68-year-old man dead inside. No one else was in the home and it’s not considered to be a criminal case.
More than $5,300 in cash and ”substantial” amounts of cocaine , methamphetamine , hydromorphone and illegal marijuana was seized after a search warrant in Truro going into the mid-week holiday. A warrant executed at a home on Kaulback Street Tuesday night nabbed the evidence. Deputy Chief Robert Hearn of Truro says a 36-year-old man and 30-year-old woman have been arrested and charged with multiple drug trafficking offences with court appearances now set for December.
