Nova Scotia reported one new case of COVID-19 and six recoveries yesterday. The lone case is in the Central Zone and is related to travel. As of today, Nova Scotia has 39 active cases of COVID-19. Of those, one person is in the hospitals COVID-19 unit. The person is in the ICU.
Nova Scotians who received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on or before July 6th will receive an email to schedule their second dose in the coming days. This is the last group of people who will receive an email to schedule or reschedule their second-dose appointment. Anyone who receives their first dose on or after July 7 will automatically receive an email to schedule their second dose afterward. Second doses can be scheduled 28 days after first doses.
New Glasgow Regional Police are investigating yet another act of arson that happened at a vacant residence on MacKay Street in New Glasgow early yesterday morning. The vacant residence suffered extensive fire and smoke damage. The New Glasgow Regional Police and New Glasgow Fire Departments preliminary investigation determined that the fire was intentionally set. As the investigation continues, police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious activity.
A group of community volunteers from across Pictou County known as The Pictou County Community Health Centre Working Group have come together to undertake the development and operations of a Community Health Centre model of care for the county. The group will be conducting extensive research on Community Health Centres across the province and country, develop a business and operational plan to move the initiative forward and to assess the health needs across Pictou County. The group will be promoting their community meetings, anticipated to start in September, through various platforms. And all Canadian travelers PEI bound are now eligible to apply for a PEI Pass. Starting July 18th , Prince Edward Island will be open to visitors from outside Atlantic Canada which is three weeks earlier than originally planned. If you are a Canadian who is fully vaccinated, you will be able to go to P.E.I. without needing to isolate if you have the pass.
