**Due to weather conditions on the Northumberland Strait, the remainder of ferry crossings between Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island for today, Nov. 15 have been cancelled and all of the crossings for tomorrow, Tuesday Nov 16 have been cancelled. Service is expected to resume Wednesday morning, weather permitting.
Covid precaution notification includes locations in Stellarton and Truro

Public Health has flagged two locations in the northern zone for possible COVID-19 exposure in the past week. A COVID precaution notification was issued Saturday for the Stellarton Cenotaph at the corner of North Ford Street and Bridge Avenue on November 11th between 10:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The second was for Boston Pizza in Truro on November 8th between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. A COVID precaution notification is issued when there has been a potential exposure of minimal risk to the public. Anyone present at those locations on the named dates and times is required to follow the instructions based on vaccination status. COVID-19 case data from the weekend will be released by the province today. On Friday, Nova Scotia had reported 70 new cases of COVID-19 and 69 recoveries since Wednesday. There is community spread in Northern and Western zones, primarily related to ongoing transmission from a faith-based gathering that occurred in late October. That includes secondary transmission to other faith-based gatherings, workplaces and to East Cumberland Lodge, a long-term care home in Pugwash. At last word, Nova Scotia had 277 active cases of COVID-19 with 10 people in hospital, including one in ICU.
New cable ferry launched to serve Guysborough County area

A new $6 million cable ferry has been officially launched to serve the Guysborough County area. The Country Harbour ferry has been christened the Theodore O’Hara, in honour of the first lighthouse keeper in Port Bickerton. The 15-car ferry, which will operate between Port Bickerton and Isaacs Harbour, replaces a 12-car cable ferry that serviced the area for 41 years. Both the federal and provincial governments contributed about $3 million each in funding.
New Brunswick schools to open after tentative deal in public sector strike

Public schools in New Brunswick will be open to students and staff today after a tentative agreement with striking workers represented by CUPE was reached over the weekend. Schools had moved to online learning as bus drivers, custodians and educational assistants were among the employees who walked off the job over two weeks ago. Premier Blaine Higgs also says community college students will be able to return to on-campus training tomorrow. A ratification vote on the proposed deal is to be held this week for roughly 20-thousand public sector workers. (The Canadian Press)
