Pictou County District RCMP are investigating a serious single vehicle crash that occurred on Meadowville Station Rd. in Toney River on Wednesday.
Pictou County District RCMP, fire and EHS all responded to the scene at about 12:30pm, and arrived to find a car extensively damaged off the road in a ditch.
The passenger, a 21-year-old Halifax woman, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital by EHS.
The driver, a 22-year-old Pictou man, suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
An RCMP collision re-constructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
The Atlantic premiers met Wednesday in Pictou, and they are looking for a decision soon from Ottawa on a proposed Atlantic Loop energy corridor.
They note that it will take time to get the massive project constructed as climate targets loom in the near future.
The estimated five -billion dollar loop proposal would connect the four provinces to hydroelectricity from Quebec and Labrador and is seen as a potential key part of an alternative energy mix for the region.
Following the meeting, Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston said although talks are ongoing, the premiers need word soon on how or if the project can proceed.
The National Advisory Committee on Immunization is recommending booster shots this fall in advance of a possible future wave of COVID-19 in Canada.
NACI says jurisdictions should plan to offer boosters to people who are at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19, including people 65 years of age and older, and adults in Indigenous, racialized and marginalized communities.
NACI also recommends that boosters be offered to all other individuals from 12 to 64 years of age regardless of the number of booster doses they have previously received.
Hundreds of R-C-M-P officers, police and first responders from across Canada gathered Wednesday for a regimental memorial service for the officer killed in the Nova Scotia mass shooting.
The service was closed to the public but groups of people lined some of the streets of Halifax to watch the procession carrying the ashes of 48-year-old Constable Heidi Stevenson to the ceremony.
R-C-M-P Commissioner Brenda Lucki says Stevenson will be remembered for her courage and bravery as she paid the ultimate price in acting to protect the community in April 2020.
There was a slight drop in gas prices overnight in New Brunswick.
The price of gasoline in that province decreased by three-tenths of a cent to a maximum of 209.3 cents per litre.
The price of diesel went down 7.7 cents per litre to 230.1 cents per litre.
