Pictou County District RCMP is investigating a crash on Hwy. 104 near Priestville that left four people dead.
The two vehicle head-on crash, involving an SUV and car, happened late Sunday night in the eastbound lane of the divided highway.
The driver and only person in the car, a 51-year-old Halifax man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three men in the SUV, all from Halifax, are dead, while a 51-year old passenger is in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
The Nova Scotia RCMP provincial Internet Child Exploitation Unit is warning about a new sextortion scam.
In recent months, the RCMP has received a large number of money-motivated sextortion reports where boys and girls are being targeted.
In these incidents, a suspect often begins a flirtatious online relationship with the victim and then convinces the victim to engage in sexually explicit activity, such as sending nude photos or videos of themselves.
Once received, the suspect threatens to distribute the photos or videos to the victim’s family and friends unless payment is received.
Nova Scotia’s environment minister has sent a letter to his federal counterpart voicing concerns about a carbon tax while the
cost of living continues to rise.
The letter stresses that a new tax at this time will “have severe, negative ramifications without a clear view of any benefits.”
The Provincial minister says the federal carbon tax could see an additional 14.4 cents added to the cost of gasoline in Nova Scotia starting April 1st of next year.

U-S President Joe Biden says al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahri has been killed in a U-S drone strike in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Biden discussed details of the operation in a prime time television address Monday night. Afghanistan’s Taliban government confirmed the airstrike, calling it “a clear violation of international principles.”
Officials say al-Zawahri was involved in the planning of the 9-11 attacks.
