Pictou County District RCMP are investigating a serious collision on Stellarton Trafalgar Rd. in Riverton.
On Sunday night at about 7:40 p.m., the RCMP, fire service and EHS all responded to the collision between a motorcycle and an SUV.
Police say that the driver of the motorcycle, a 35-year-old Eureka man, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by Lifeflight.
The driver of the SUV, an 84-year-old New Glasgow man, was not injured.
A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and is assisting in the investigation.
The fall lobster fishing season in Lobster Fishing Area 25 has been delayed because of bad weather.
The season was supposed to open today in LFA 25, but a DFO conference call was held Monday morning, and that resulted in the decision to delay the opening of the season until at least Thursday.
Another DFO conference call will be held today to discuss recommendations on the Thursday opening.
The Nova Scotia government is offering up to five-thousand dollars to community groups that want to clean up the province’s shorelines.
The annual Marine Debris Cleanup Program covers up to 75 per cent of eligible costs for shoreline projects and up to 50 per cent for ocean-based proposals.
Nova Scotia has 13-thousand kilometres of shoreline.
The program is open to organizations in the seafood harvesting, processing, buying or aquaculture industries, as well as economic development organizations and environmental groups.
Olivia Newton-John, the Grammy-winner who starred as Sandy in the film version of “Grease,” has died.
She was 73 and had battled cancer for thirty years.
Newton-John was among the world’s most popular entertainers from 1973 to 1983 with 14 top 10 singles just in the U-S, as well as starring with John Travolta in “Grease” and with Gene Kelly in “Xanadu.”
“Physical,” released in 1981, was tops for 10 weeks and was named Billboard’s song of the year.
