R-C-M-P Commissioner Brenda Lucki is scheduled to testify today before the public inquiry into Nova Scotia’s mass shooting.
Her testimony is expected to supplement her lengthy interview with commission lawyers, and time has been allotted for her testimony to extend into Wednesday if need be.
Lucki is expected to be questioned about the force’s culture, its own reviews of how it responded to the killings and how it handles communication with the public.
The former commanding officer of the Nova Scotia R-C-M-P confirmed in an interview with the public inquiry that she never considered using the province’s Alert Ready system to advise the public.
Lee Bergerman said she was told information was being released through Twitter, which was H-Division Nova Scotia’s practice.
Bergerman also told inquiry lawyers earlier this month that she first saw the killer’s replica police cruiser in a news report before she went to work on the second day of the rampage.
The inquiry is looking at how 22 people were killed by a 51-year-old gunman on April 18th and 19th, 2020, and ways to prevent such an incident from recurring.
