The final report from the Mass Casualty Commission about the April 2020 massacre that claimed the lives of 22 people will be delayed by five months.
In a notice on Friday, the Commission said after making a request to the provincial and federal government, they were granted an extension.
The commission said it is still on track to complete public proceedings by the end of September and has not requested additional funding to accommodate the extension.
The final report was due on November 1st 2022, but will now have to be submitted by March 31st 2023.
Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response Team is investigating the death of a man during a confrontation with officers at a residence in Dartmouth on Saturday.
Halifax Regional Police said they responded to a weapons call just after 8:30 pm involving a man with a firearm.
Investigators day the suspect had barricaded himself in a residence and officers had set up containment on it.
According to HRP, the 59-year-old man confronted officers with a weapon while they attempted to arrest him and an officer discharged his service weapon.
Police said the man was found dead in the residence and the incident has been referred to SiRT, which investigates all serious incidents involving police.
A man is dead after an ATV crash outside of Truro on Sunday Afternoon.
RCMP said officers and emergency personnel were called to a single-vehicle crash on Camden road around 1:30 PM.
Mounties found an ATV upright near the roadway and a 36-year-old man from Salmon River was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no passengers in the vehicle.
The province announced on Friday that children between the ages of 5 and 11 can get their first COVID-19 booster vaccine starting the week of September 6th.
Pfizer’s pediatric vaccine is the only one available as a booster for children in that age group, and appointments can be booked online when they come out closer to the date.
They also announced starting September 19th, an additional covid booster will be available for people over 12 regardless of the amount of boosters they’ve previously had.
