At about 4:30 p.m. last Friday, Pictou County District RCMP, the RCMP Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services, all responded to a report of a disturbance involving a firearm on Hedgeville Road in Hedgeville, Pictou County.
Through the investigation, officers learned that two men who are known to each other were arguing outside of a home in the 600 block of Hedgeville Road. During the confrontation, one of the men showed a firearm and fired one shot into the air.
The second man then ran off and hid in a nearby area.
Police say that just before officers arrived, the armed man retreated into his home and secured the firearm.
Officers were able to safely take him into custody and the Police service dog team located the second man nearby.
A 33-year-old Hedgeville man is facing firearms charges, and a 38-year old Hedgeville man has been charged with 6 counts of Failure to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order.
Nine firearms and ammunition, located at the home involved, were turned over to police.
New Glasgow Regional Police have obtained an arrest warrant for a man charged in a Criminal Harassment from this past June who has since failed to comply with conditions of his release.
35-year old David Blair Tobin-Chisholm of Pictou County is charged with Failure to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order.
Police have made several attempts to locate David Blair Tobin-Chisholm, however are requesting assistance from the public.
Anyone who sees David Blair Tobin-Chisholm is asked to refrain from approaching him and to call police.
Halifax’s police chief says Dalhousie University should be playing a stronger role controlling unsanctioned events like a huge street party that turned violent Saturday.
In a letter sent yesterday, Chief Dan Kinsella told the university president that the annual off-campus gathering has “declined to a new low.”
Kinsella says the event is associated with Dalhousie University, whether it takes place on campus or on adjacent streets.
The president responded to Kinsella with a letter saying he agreed that the event requires a joint response and he “would welcome the opportunity to continue” a dialogue with police.
The Pharmacy Association of Nova Scotia says that 1.5 million
COVID-19 vaccines have been administered by pharmacists in the province.
The association says that as of Friday, 295 of the province’s pharmacies have taken part in the vaccination program.
