The Nova Scotia government has announced a one-time grant of 550-dollars for post secondary students receiving financial assistance to help them with the rising cost of living.
It says about 11-thousand students who are also Nova Scotia residents and going to school in the province during the 2022-23 academic year will be eligible for the grant, which will not have to be repaid.
The province says the 6.2-million-dollar investment is available due to one-time savings within the post-secondary student loan program.
The grant will be deposited automatically into the bank accounts of most eligible students in January so they can focus on their studies and future.

Both tenants rights groups and landlord associations have been calling for an enforcement system for years for cases where a landlord or tenant continues to violate the Residential Tenancies Act despite warnings.
