A 42-year-old woman has died after her car left the road in Cumberland County.
RCMP say the crash occurred Friday morning on Highway 3-21 in the Rockley area.
Investigators say a car went off the road, and struck trees and a power pole.
The Port Philip woman — the lone occupant of the car — was found inside the vehicle by paramedics and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Municipality of Cumberland County is drafting a request for proposals for local police, saying that alternatives to the R-C-M-P would be considered.
The Municipality approved going forward with the request last Wednesday and says in a news release that it is the result of public consultations in communities throughout the region.
Mayor Murray Scott has said he’s concerned about the rising costs of the R-C-M-P, and also worried that full staffing isn’t always available due to illness, vacations and various forms of leave.
Scott says in the release council is hopeful the R-C-M-P and other potential police services respond to the request for proposals.

Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer is urging caution during the holiday season as flu cases have hit peak levels across the province.
Dr. Robert Strang is recommending people wear masks in crowded public spaces and when they are sick, given the pressures facing the province’s medical system.
Strang says influenza cases and other illnesses such as RSV are contributing to overcrowded emergency rooms.
The province reported 686 new cases of Influenza A last week and 100 people were admitted to hospital because of the virus, including eight to intensive care.
