New Glasgow Regional Police are investigating a robbery at a convenience store in New Glasgow on Saturday night.
At about 9:25pm, officers responded to the robbery at the Needs/Shell Gas Store on East River Road.
Police say a man had entered the store, waited in line and approached the counter, demanding cash and cigarettes.
After a threat was made, the man immediately fled the store.
The man is described as wearing a black winter skull cap with red writing on the front, black and grey long winter coat, black and gray checkered shirt, black t-shirt, blue jeans, black boots and a blue surgical mask.
No one was injured during the incident.
On Saturday, New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a report that a group of young people found a firearm on a trail next to Birch Street in New Glasgow.
They immediately alerted an adult who then called police.
The firearm has been seized and police are trying to determine if there are any connections to any ongoing police investigations.
Preliminary investigation has indicated that there is no threat to the public safety and no one was injured.
The firearm is described as a shotgun.
Police say the incident is concerning and those responsible for disposing of the firearm could have been responsible for serious injury and or death.

A plan to stage anti-government protests in Winnipeg next month has been called off.
Protest group Canada Unity says its “Freedom Convoy two-point-oh reunion” scheduled for February 17th to the 20th is out of service.
Founder James Bauder cited non-specific security breaches and personal attacks for the decision.
