There is a Rainfall Warning in effect for Pictou County with heavy rain today and Saturday with upwards of 40 to 80 mm of rain expected in some areas.

That rain starting this morning and continuing into Saturday.

 

 

Gasoline prices went down overnight in Nova Scotia, while diesel prices went up.

Gas prices dropped by 1.5 cents per litre putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gas at 147.3 cents per litre in the local area.

Diesel prices increased by 7.2 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for diesel at 188.8 cents per litre locally.

 

 

A Cape Breton woman says she’s been flooded by health care horror stories after she went public with her mother-in-law’s death after waiting seven hours without seeing a doctor at emergency.

Katherine Snow says Charlene Snow died after waiting at the main hospital in Sydney, Nova Scotia, to see a doctor and deciding to go home.

She says her mother-in-law’s heart stopped about an hour after coming home, and the family is shocked and angry.

They’ve set up a website to collect and tell other families stories of frustration with the Nova Scotia health system.

 

 

The sudden death of a woman earlier this week in Five Islands has been ruled a homicide.

The victim’s body was found Monday in a home in the community after officers responded to a complaint of shots fired in the area.

The Mounties say they had released a person taken into custody early Tuesday in Springhill.

Police say they do not believe the killing was a random act.

 

 

Police are investigating a collision that claimed the life of a 24-year-old man.

They say officers responded to a report of a collision on Highway 104 in East Havre Boucher on Tuesday evening.

Investigators say a transport truck travelling west on Highway 104 collided with a car travelling the other way.

Police say the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene while the 30-year-old Ontario man driving the truck was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

 

 

Lisa Marie Presley has died at the age of 54.

Lisa Marie was the only child of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, and was a singer-songwriter dedicated to her father’s legacy.

She died Thursday after being hospitalized for a medical emergency as she had reportedly gone into cardiac arrest.

Lisa Marie was at the Golden Globes earlier this week as the movie about her father was up for awards.
