Nova Scotians are asked to pause for a moment of silence at noon tomorrow and on Wednesday to remember those lost during a mass shooting in the province three years ago.
Twenty-two people died on April 18th and 19th of 2020 after a gunman disguised as an R-C-M-P officer went on a shooting spree.
Premier Tim Houston says the events of three years ago are still felt deeply across the province.
The flags at Province House and all provincial government buildings and institutions will be at half-mast from sunrise tomorrow until sunset on Wednesday.
Pictou County District RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating 15-year-old Emily Nolan who was last seen on April 11 on MacBeath Rd. in Plymouth.
Emily Nolan is described as 5-foot-5, 130lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes.
She was last seen wearing blue sweatpants, a black tank top and a black coat.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Emily Nolan is asked to contact Pictou District RCMP or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
School support staff represented by CUPE’s Nova Scotia School Board Council of Unions held information pickets and rallies around the province on Saturday.
Education workers will be in a legal strike position at 12:01 AM on Friday.
The 54-hundred-plus education workers voted 97.5% in favour of strike action if an agreement that secures significant wage increases for members cannot be reached.
Members include bus drivers, early childhood educators in the pre-primary program, educational program assistants, custodians, food services staff, and tradespeople.
Locally, members conducted a march that began outside the CUPE office in New Glasgow.
Public health officials in Nova Scotia are investigating a confirmed case of measles in the Halifax area.
They say officials will be directly notifying family members and friends who are known to have had close contact with the case.
Officials say this will help identify potential further cases as quickly as possible and ensure up-to-date immunization.
However, they say the public may have been exposed at multiple locations earlier this month, including Tanoor Restaurant in Bedford, the Family Focus Medical Clinic in Lower Sackville and the I-W-K’s emergency room.
