Gasoline and diesel prices both went down overnight in Nova Scotia.
The price of gasoline decreased by 7.0 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gas at 162.3 cents per litre locally.
The price of diesel went down by 6.5 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for diesel at 148.1 cents per litre in the local area.

Justice Jamie Chipman says William Sandeson must spend a total of
15 years in prison for a “reprehensible” crime, but notes the 30-year-old has already served seven years and eight months in jail.
As a result he is eligible for conditional release by 2030.
Sandeson, who had testified that he killed Taylor Samson in self-defence in August 2015, was found guilty of second-degree murder in February after jurors deliberated for 23 hours.
Nova Scotia has announced a task force to examine ways to help the province reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
The provincial government says the Clean Electricity Solutions Task Force will examine how to modernize electricity infrastructure and the province’s regulations.
The task force includes former energy regulator and deputy minister Alison Scott and former utility executive John MacIsaac.
A final report with recommendations is to be submitted in early 2024.
A new resource to help alleviate food insecurity is now available in the Antigonish Town and County Library (also known as the People’s Place).
The Community Pantry, located near the Community Room, has two cupboards for dry goods such as pasta, rice, and cereal, and canned goods.
The pantry includes a large commercial refrigerated unit for perishables such as milk, eggs, and cheese as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. It is free to access by anyone in need of food.
The Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library was approached by the Antigonish Food Security Association to host a pantry in the library in addition to the pantry located at the Farmer’s Market.
These sites help people access food items beyond the times the Food Bank is open.
