The public-sector union representing 35-thousand Canada Revenue Agency employees has struck a tentative deal with the federal government, ending a two-week strike.
The announcement of a prospective agreement comes after the government and Public Service Alliance of Canada came to separate deals that ended a strike of more than 120-thousand other public servants.
The separate agreements that PSAC negotiated with the government included an 11.5 per cent wage increase over four years.
Earlier in the negotiations, the tax employees’ union had been pushing for a 20.5 per cent increase over a three-year period.
Nova Scotians now have a new way to access their vaccination records.
Anyone aged 16 or older with a health card in the province can register online for Vax-Record-NS, which the government says is a faster, easier way to retrieve important health-care information.
The service lists school immunization information dating back to 2008 including some early childhood vaccinations like measles, mumps, and rubella, and also COVID-19.
The government says more vaccine records will be added over time.
A community worker with the Dalhousie Legal Aid Service says the office has been overwhelmed by large numbers of people needing help dealing with evictions.
Joanne Hussey says the increased numbers forced the office to halt its walk-in service earlier this month.
Hussey says the legal aid office has worked with 102 households facing eviction in the past eight months alone.
In the same time period the previous year, the office worked with 30 households.
More than 300 members of the 2020 and 2021 graduating classes from St. FX will be returning to the campus on Saturday for a special convocation ceremony.
The university has organized the celebration for grads who could not accept their degrees in person because of COVID-19 restrictions.
The university held virtual convocation ceremonies instead in 2020 and 2021.
On Sunday, the university’s spring convocation for the class of 2023 will take place.
