Gasoline prices and diesel prices both went up overnight in Nova Scotia.
Gas prices increased by 2.7 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at 165.5 cents per litre locally.
Diesel prices increased by 1.9 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for diesel at 211.9 cents per litre in the local area.
New Glasgow Regional Police say that a man wanted on a province-wide arrest warrant has been arrested.
23-year old Ethan Bradley MacQuarrie of Pictou County was arrested Thursday.
MacQuarrie was charged with Sexual Assault Causing Bodily Harm; Sexual Assault; Assault; Unlawful Confinement; Overcoming Resistance; 5 Counts of Failing to Comply with Conditions; and Failure to Attend Court.
MacQuarrie is currently in custody and will appear in Provincial Court in Pictou today (Friday).
Nova Scotia’s growing need for skilled trades workers will see the province spend 100 million dollars over the next three years to help speed up training and recruitment.
Premier Tim Houston says the goal is to add up to five-thousand new apprentices to the provincial system over that time period.
The investment includes 40 million dollars in various grants and incentives for students, apprentices, employers and journeypersons to help with such things as buying new tools.
Although most of the details are still being worked out, the tool grant alone could be as much as one-thousand dollars.
The Nova Scotia government is offering homeowners up to 25-thousand dollars to build so-called secondary suites in their homes or backyards to help the province deal with its shortage of affordable homes.
To qualify for the pilot program, homeowners must provide affordable housing for a minimum of five years, and refrain from making it available for short-term rentals.
Tenants must have an income below the income limits for their area, or be a parent — 65 years or older — of one of the homeowners, or be an adult child of a senior homeowner.
The government has set aside eight-million dollars over the next three years for the Secondary and Backyard Suite Incentive Program.

For new drivers, 6 or more points results in a 6-month driving suspension.
Drivers can also be charged for passing a school bus with amber warning lights flashing.
The fine for failing to pass with caution is $295.
