The fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is back on track as the militant group freed 17 more hostages.
Those included 14 Israelis and the first American, a 4-year-old girl with dual Israeli citizenship.
In turn, Israel released 39 Palestinian prisoners.
It’s the third exchange under a four-day truce deal.
International mediators led by the U-S, Egypt and Qatar are trying to extend the ceasefire.
Hamas for the first time says it will seek to extend the deal by looking to release a larger number of hostages. Israel says it is
open to extending if more hostages are released.
Nova Scotia’s police watchdog agency has called in its Ontario counterpart to review new information revealed by the inquiry into the 2020 mass shooting.
The Serious Incident Response Team says Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit recently determined the inquiry had yielded new information about two R-C-M-P officers who shot at a firehall as they were searching for a shooting suspect disguised as a Mountie.
The Ontario agency has agreed to conduct another independent review to determine if the new information would have had any impact SIRT’s decision in March 2021 to clear the officers of wrongdoing.
The inquiry heard the suspect was not at the Onslow firehall on April 19th, 2020 when the two Mounties fired toward a fellow officer and a civilian who they said looked like the killer.

The Mounties say they are looking for 48-year-old Natasha Leroy.
Meanwhile, investigators confirmed the home is being searched.
