The cleanup continues this morning and roads are snowy, slushy and slippery, so drive with caution. Pictou District RCMP report that they were busy Monday responding to collisions in the slick road conditions.
Several break and enters to businesses were reported by Pictou District RCMP over the paste month or so.
Tools were the item stolen in most cases.
The RCMP is reminding business owners that recording serial numbers of tools, knowing the value, and having identifying marks, can assist in getting tools back to their rightful owners if recovered.
Video surveillance and trail cameras can be an asset in identifying suspects as well.
Nova Scotia is moving to limit the amount of time so-called travel nurses can work in the province.
Premier Tim Houston says the change applies to all government contracts for travel nurses and is aimed at encouraging them to accept permanent positions.
As of December 15th, nurses who travel to work at hospitals where there are nursing shortages can only be hired for a maximum of 180 days.
Under the change, nurses who complete contracts will have to wait for one year before they are hired again as a travel nurse.
A new Angus Reid poll shows New Brunswick premier Blaine Higgs is still one of the most unpopular premiers in the country.
The poll shows Higgs had a 33 per cent approval rating heading into this month, which is the second-lowest among the reporting provinces.
Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston and Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey both sat at 48 per cent, just behind the premiers in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Nova Scotia is marking the 75th anniversary of the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights with a series of events and celebrations.
The province’s Human Rights Commission says events include a virtual panel about finding housing solutions for people experiencing homelessness and later this week there will be a panel on trans representation in film.
Then on Friday, it’s the 2023 Nova Scotia Human Rights Awards ceremony, which will be livestreamed from the Halifax Central Library.
Nova Scotia Human Rights Week goes up until December 10th — the day the U-N adopted the declaration in Paris in 1948.
