Gasoline and diesel prices both went down overnight in Nova Scotia.
Gasoline prices went down by 6.4 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at 155.0 cents per litre in the local area.
Diesel prices decreased by 8.5 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for diesel at 190.6 cents per litre locally.
Stellarton Police, Westville Police, New Glasgow Regional Police, Pictou County District RCMP, New Glasgow Fire Department and Trenton Fire Department all partnered with MADD Canada on Thursday on Westville Road to help launch Operation Christmas-Project Red Ribbon.
Hundreds of Red Ribbons were passed out to drivers as a reminder not to drink and drive.

A 40-year old man has been charged with robbery; pointing a firearm; possession of a weapon; theft of vehicle; theft under $5000; resisting a peace officer; and possession contrary to court order.
Some of the charges are in connection with a robbery during a roadside transaction on November 24th in Salt Springs, Pictou County.
Police say the transaction had been arranged to take place at Exit 19 in Salt Springs, but the man who was selling tools, pulled out a gun and demanded the buyer get out of his vehicle.
The seller then took off with the buyer’s vehicle.
A short time after the robbery, Westville Police spotted the stolen vehicle speeding on Acadia Avenue before crashing.
The suspect ran off.
On Tuesday, police located the man’s vehicle at a home in Stellarton and as he was being arrested he fled on foot again.
Officers were able to chase him down and arrest him on Foord Street.
He’s been remanded into custody and will appear in Pictou Provincial Court today.
Two Nova Scotia post-secondary schools have become the first in the province to support a campaign aiming to end the use of non-disclosure agreements in sexual misconduct cases.
Acadia University and the University of King’s College both say they’ve signed the “Can’t Buy My Silence” pledge that urges all universities to end the use of N-D-As to stop students and staff
from speaking out in cases of sexual harassment, bullying and other forms of misconduct.
Acadia’s President and Vice-Chancellor Doctor Jeff Hennessy says the misuse of N-D-As can lead to significant harm, noting victims should feel empowered to openly share their experiences.
The Municipality of Pictou County will now be able to help more residents transition to cleaner energy.
That’s because council has approved a by-law amendment, broadening the coverage of its green energy financing program “Switch MOPC.”
Previously exclusive to solar panels, the program will now offer financing for a wide range of home energy upgrades.
This expansion allows homeowners to pursue financing for upgrades that include heat pumps, windows and doors, insulation, electric water heaters and more.
The family of Canadian singer-songwriter Myles Goodwyn — the former lead singer of April Wine — is thanking Canadians for their tributes and kind words.
Goodwyn died in Halifax at 75 on Sunday.
Goodwyn’s family says in a release issued yesterday that it was grateful for the tributes and messages of support and love, and has asked that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
