Gasoline prices increased slightly in Nova Scotia overnight, while there was no change in diesel prices. Gasoline prices went up by 1.0 cent per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at 154.8 cents per litre locally.
With no change in diesel prices, the minimum pump price for diesel remains at 187.4 cents per litre in the local area.
The Department of Emergency Services with the Municipality of the County of Pictou is advising residents of the Municipality of Pictou County, Towns of Pictou, Trenton, Westville, and Stellarton (Excluding the Town of New Glasgow), that most of the counties’ fire services have recently transitioned to a new dispatch provider.
The new provider is Valley Communications in Kentville.

A 37-year-old Nova Scotia man is dead after the truck he was driving collided with a semi-tractor-trailer Thursday morning near Elmsdale.
East Hants District R-C-M-P say the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions on Highway 214 when they collided, and the man from Dutch Settlement was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-tractor-trailer, a 34-year-old Moncton man, was not injured.
Police say an investigation is ongoing.

Active Pictou County is receiving more than $16,000 for multiple initiatives to support physical activity.
Pictou County Forest School Society is getting $5,000 to purchase a Baby Barn for the storage of equipment, clothing and gear.
Newcomers and Nova Scotians now have more access to training and certification in construction trades.
The Province is increasing funding for the Work-based Trades Practical Assessment program and a training program run by the Nova Scotia Building Officials Association.
Officials say that expanding support for the program will increase the supply of skilled trades professionals in the province.
With this new funding, about 175 newcomers experienced in construction trades will receive support to complete their apprenticeship and work in Nova Scotia.
