RCMP have charged three men with drug and weapons offences following a search of two homes in Pictou.
Police say the searches took place Thursday at two homes on St. Andrew’s Street.
Investigators say they seized what appeared to be fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, prescription medications, unstamped tobacco, and multiple firearms.
The three men, all from Pictou, have been released on conditions and are scheduled to appear in Pictou provincial court on May 13th.
The national inflation rate dropped from 3.4 per cent in December to 2.9 per cent last month. The decline was much steeper than economists had predicted and is mainly due to a year-over-year drop in gas prices. And grocery prices didn’t rise as much — increasing 3.4 per cent in January compared with a 4.7 per cent increase in December. Nova Scotia’s annual inflation rate stood at an even 3.0 percent in January.
Two new grants will help Nova Scotian apprentices purchase tools and technology to support their training and launch their careers. The Province will provide a one-time grant of up to $1,000 to purchase new tools, equipment and clothing required, while a technology support grant will offer up to $900 for a computer and accessories to apprentices enrolled in training. To be eligible for either grant, apprentices must be registered with the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says there is still a need to follow rules even in difficult times like the COVID-19 pandemic. Trudeau made the comments about the controversial ArriveCan app which Canada’s auditor general previously said had a “glaring disregard” for fundamental management and contracting practices as the app was developed and implemented. Trudeau said it’s “obvious” contracting rules weren’t followed during the development of the app which was used to track health and contact information for people entering Canada during the pandemic.
