A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Pictou County with significant rainfall expected Friday night through Saturday night. 25 to 50 mm of rain is possible, combined with maximum wind gusts of 70 to 90 km/h.
New Glasgow Regional Police have obtained a Warrant for the Arrest of a woman in connection with the attempted murder investigation of a shooting on Washington Street in New Glasgow last Friday. 48-year old Angela Lynn Taylor, who may be residing in Pictou County, is facing charges that include Attempted Murder; Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Robbery; and several firearms-related offences.
Police say they have made several attempts to locate Angela Lynn Taylor, and are requesting assistance from the public.
Anyone with information on 48-year old Angela Lynn Taylor’s whereabouts, or any information that may assist investigators, is asked to contact New Glasgow Regional Police or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
As of yesterday (Wednesday), both members of female same-sex couples in Nova Scotia can register as parents on their newborn’s birth certificate.
Service Minister Colton LeBlanc says rules have made it difficult for some parents to be recognized legally as a family, adding it’s long past time for that to stop.
LeBlanc says the updated regulations mean parents can focus on what’s important — raising their newborn.
More than two dozen female couples registered a birth using assisted conception last year and 14 babies using surrogacy were also registered.
Farmers recovering from losses and damage due to the extreme weather or wildfires during the spring and summer of 2023 can now access new funding from the Province. Agriculture Minister Greg Morrow says this new funding will help fruit, vegetable, berry and forage farmers as they recover and plan for the upcoming season. The Department is allocating $9.2 million to the 2023 Season Response Program. The deadline for applications is March 13; and eligible applicants are registered fruit, vegetable, berry and forage farms.

Taylor Farms Mexican Style Street Corn chopped salad kits with Wednesday’s best-before date have been recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the products were sold in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and P-E-I.
Anyone with the recalled kits are being told to throw them out or return them to where they bought them.
The agency has not received any reports of illnesses.
