The Nova Scotia legislature will resume sitting on September 5th.
The Speaker’s office issued a brief statement yesterday saying the sitting will mark the beginning of the first session of the 64th general assembly.
As members prepare for the session to begin, there is speculation that Progressive Conservative Premier Tim Houston will soon call for an election.
All of the parties have been scrambling to nominate candidates and the government has been making announcements since the summer break began.
Servers in licensed bars in Nova Scotia will soon all be trained on how to serve alcohol safely. Starting in December, the province’s 24-hundred licensed bar and restaurants must ensure their servers have completed a responsible alcohol service course. Service Nova Scotia Minister Colton LeBlanc says the training will help improve safety. Other events that require special occasion licences to serve alcohol may need their servers to be trained in the course as well, depending on the size and risk involved in the event
A safety reminder from New Glasgow Regional Police. When you’re out for that evening walk, always make yourself visible by wearing reflective clothing and carrying a flashlight. Police suggest you also stick to designated crossings and walk facing traffic on unlit roads.
Cyclists should also wear reflective clothing and should always have a front and rear light.
The Town of New Glasgow is advising that there will be some road closures in effect from 6 a.m. on Thursday to 11 p.m. on Sunday to accommodate the Pictou County Ribfest:
-Riverside Parkway from MacLean Street to Dalhousie Street,
-Riverside Parkway from Dalhousie Street to George Street (Southbound lane closed, Northbound lane open)
