Mila Mulroney says she is “humbled and honoured” to take on the role of the 11th chancellor of St. FX. The university is the alma mater of her husband, former prime minister Brian Mulroney, who died in February at the age of 84. Mila Mulroney says the University in Antigonish was where her husband was inspired to become involved in politics, noting she spent many days at the campus over the past 50 years. The chairman of the university’s board of governors says her international profile and experience as a philanthropist will bring “invaluable strengths” to the university.
The Town of New Glasgow Water Utility is advising customers that there will be a water outage today, starting at 9 a.m. and possibly lasting until 5 p.m. on Ellis St., Balfour St., and Athletic St.
The outage is necessary to repair a valve in the area. It suggests residents in the area set aside sufficient water for that period of time. When the water service is restored, run your water until it runs clear. They also advise you to turn off the shutoff valve in your basement to prevent any back siphonage of water.
