It’s Election Day with Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris and former Republican President Donald Trump seeking victory. There’s no clear leader heading into Election Day with all the polls showing a very close race. Tens of millions have already cast their ballots.
Those include record numbers of early voters in Georgia, North Carolina and other battleground states that could decide who wins the White House.
About 82-million ballots had already been cast by Monday, which is more than half the total votes cast in 2020.
An ambitious target for housing and a replacement for federal carbon pricing are among the major promises contained in the Nova Scotia Liberals’ election platform.
The platform — which is costed at about 2.3 billion dollars over four years — was released yesterday.
Party Leader Zach Churchill is referring to the 31-page plan as a “contract with Nova Scotians.”
Among the significant measures, the platform contains a promise to build 80-thousand new homes by 2032.
Wednesday is the deadline for candidate nominations for the provincial election. Elections Nova Scotia’s website shows all parties still have gaps to fill in their candidate lists. The elections agency says it will update its online candidate lists continually as nominations are received. Early voting after the close of nominations will be done by secure e-ballot.
R-C-M-P in Nova Scotia are asking the public’s help in finding a 45-year-old man wanted on a provincewide arrest warrant. They say Nicholas Arthur Lees is wanted for two counts of failing to comply with a release order. They describe him as six-foot two, weighing about 200 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
The Town of New Glasgow says the unveiling of the new Stewart St. Heritage Site interpretative panel will take place on Friday at 3 p.m. at 294 Stewart St. in New Glasgow. The site is in honour of the veterans who lived in the area and fought in World War II. There are 41 names that represent most aspects of the Canadian Armed Forces during the 1939-1945 campaign.
