New Glasgow Regional Police have charged a 57-year-old man following a number of incidents involving false 9-1-1 calls.
Shortly before 1:00am on Monday, police received multiple 9-1-1 calls from an individual reporting an ongoing firearms-related incident near the intersection of Marsh and Temperance Streets in New Glasgow. The man subsequently also made a call impersonating a police officer to obtain information about the investigation.
In their investigation, officers determined that the reported firearm incident was false and that the individual was not a police officer. Shortly after his release, police received more information regarding an incident that occurred at the suspect’s home prior to the false 9-1-1 calls. As a result, he was arrested and charged with Forcible Confinement, Assault, and Resist Arrest. He’s being held in custody and will soon be appearing in Pictou Provincial Court.
