Gasoline and diesel prices both went down overnight in Nova Scotia. Gasoline prices decreased by 5.9 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at 158.3 cents per litre in the local area. Diesel prices dropped by 3.0 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for diesel at 189.8 cents per litre locally.

Pictou County District RCMP have charged three people as part of a drug trafficking investigation in Mountville. Police searched an area home and found two women and a man with licence plates and cellphones. Officers found and pulled over a car and arrested a man and three women seizing cocaine, meth and cash. Two men and one of the women have been charged with multiple trafficking offences.
A Truro man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after a knife attack. R-C-M-P say they responded to reports of the stabbings of a 64-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman – both from Truro – Thursday on Coach Road in Millbrook. The suspect fled the scene, allegedly carried out a robbery and was later arrested after the S-U-V he was driving crashed into the ditch on highway 102 near Exit 10. The 40-year-old man is also charged with two counts of aggravated assault, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau repeated a call to slap levies on American imports coming into Canada if U-S President Donald Trump imposes tariffs on all Canadian imports, including energy. Speaking in Montreal, Trudeau responded to Trump’s accusations from the White House Thursday that “drugs are still pouring” in from Canada and Mexico. He said “Canada is not the source of problems for the United States” and quoted U-S numbers estimating less than one per cent of fentanyl and illegal crossings into American states come from Canada. Canada’s plan is to target billions of dollars worth of American goods with retaliatory tariffs.
The Nova Scotia government is set to introduce a new pilot program to help its residents identify and buy more local products. Through the Loyal Producer Labelling Pilot Program, businesses are able to apply for a 70 per cent rebate on eligible expenses for adding the Nova Scotia Loyal logo on their products. Minister of Growth and Development Colton LeBlanc says there is growing interest in the province to support local businesses. Eligible labelling expenses include graphic design work, printing and production of new packaging, dyes and labels, with a max rebate of three-thousand-dollars per business.
