Gas and diesel prices both saw decreases overnight in Nova Scotia. Prices for regular gas went down 0.6 (6-10ths of a cent) per litre, while premium gas dropped by 1.0 cent per litre. The minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline is now 140.5 cents per litre in the local area. Diesel prices decreased by 1.2 cents per litre, meaning the minimum pump price for diesel is 140.3 cents per litre locally.
Canadian auto parts headed south of the border are not going to be hit with U-S President Donald Trump’s tariffs as planned.
The 25 per cent auto part duties were supposed to go into effect on Saturday, but are getting a reprieve from the U-S, temporarily relieving an automotive industry besieged by multiple tariffs.
New guidelines released by U-S Customs and Border Protection today say automobile parts compliant with the Canada-U-S-Mexico Agreement on trade will be exempt.
An update Thursday from Nova Scotia Power on the recent cyber incident affecting the company.
On April 25th, Nova Scotia Power detected unusual activity on its network and immediately initiated its incident response plan. While the investigation is ongoing, it has identified that certain customer personal information was accessed and taken by an unauthorized third party. They are working to determine the full nature and scope of the data that may have been affected, and individuals impacted.

The New Glasgow 150th Anniversary Celebrations are being launched on Tuesday at 6 p.m. along the New Glasgow riverfront. The Town will also host a flag raising ceremony at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, where a custom flag, designed specifically for New Glasgow’s 150th anniversary will be raised.
The launch will begin with the official unveiling of a legacy art piece that honours the river that runs through the Town, recognizing its Mi’kmaq name and honouring the Pictou Landing First Nation community.
The 150 launch will also reflect the African Nova Scotian history of New Glasgow, its strong Scottish roots and long-standing multicultural heritages. There will also be a concert inside Glasgow Square Theatre from approximately 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The Town of New Glasgow is advising that Provost Street from George Street to Jury Street, Dalhousie Street from Archimedes Street to Riverside Parkway, and MacLean Street from Riverside Parkway to Archimedes Street will be closed from 2 p.m. on Saturday to 1 a.m. on Sunday for New Glasgow’s Art at Night festival.
