New Glasgow Regional Police are looking for information in regards to a robbery that occurred on Riverside Parkway in New Glasgow. Police received the report at 10:50 a.m. on Sunday.
Investigators say a van was being driven southbound on Riverside Parkway, while a family was walking northbound on the sidewalk. While the driver stopped to ask the family for directions, a female passenger in the rear seat suddenly grabbed the victim’s necklace, ripped it from her neck, and fled the scene.

The vehicle is described as a newer model Silver Toyota Sienna. The male driver is described as heavy set, long dark beard with a left forearm tattoo. The female behind the front passenger is described as older, possibly in her early 60’s, with dark and grey hair. A third person, a front passenger is described as a younger male with light brown hair. Police are also asking the public to check camera footage or dashcams for any information that may be helpful in the investigation.

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s meeting with premiers, including Premier Tim Houston, in Saskatoon has brought several “nation-building” projects to the table, but he won’t discuss what they are. Carney is promising to table legislation that will speed up the approvals of critical infrastructure projects, while including meaningful consultation with Indigenous communities. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says she supports the talks, calling the tone shift from the Trudeau government an encouraging sign — especially around energy development. Despite no final list, Carney says discussions with the premiers will continue over the summer, as Ottawa refines what qualifies as being in the national interest.
