Nova Scotia’s police oversight agency says an R-C-M-P officer facing a series of sexual assault charges has again been charged with the same offence.
The Serious Incident Response Team says it learned in March of an allegation against 40-year-old R-C-M-P Constable William McNutt.
The independent body says the allegation involves an incident in January 2023 described by a woman known to the officer.
McNutt was charged with sexual assault on Monday and is expected to appear in provincial court in Shubenacadie today.
The Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service is reporting the first potential instance this season of a potential shark forcing swimmers from the water.
Paul D’Eon — director of the service — says a fin was spotted at one side of the swimmer’s area of Queensland beach, about 50 kilometres west of Halifax yesterday.
He says the fin was spotted at about 11:20 a-m and the beach was cleared within minutes.
D’Eon says last year there were three or four sightings of fins over the course of the entire summer season.
This month, New Glasgow Town Hall is lit in red, white, and blue to recognize Disability Pride Month — a time to celebrate inclusion, resilience, and the power of community. The Town says Disability Pride Month is not just about awareness, it’s about visibility, empowerment, and the celebration of identity — a time to honour the strength and resilience of individuals with disabilities, and to acknowledge the systemic barriers that still exist. The Town of New Glasgow encourages all residents to take a moment to review the Town of New Glasgow Accessibility Action Plan , which outlines the Town’s efforts to create a more inclusive and accessible community for everyone. Meanwhile, a Disability Pride flag raising ceremony was hosted Wednesday by the Town of Trenton at Trenton Station on Main Street, and a Disability Pride flag raising ceremony was held Wednesday in Town Square in Stellarton.
The Town of New Glasgow is advising that the Glasgow Square parking lot will be closed from 5:00 PM today (July 3rd) until 5:00 PM on Saturday (July 5th). Motorists are asked to plan ahead and make alternative parking arrangements.
