Gasoline prices rose slightly in Nova Scotia overnight, while diesel prices decreased. The price of regular gasoline increased by 0.5 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at 145.3 cents per litre in the local area. Diesel prices decreased by 2.4 cents per litre, meaning the minimum pump price for diesel is 156.9 cents per litre locally.

First Nations leaders spoke bluntly about their concerns with Ottawa’s major projects legislation.

Search officials say a 41-year-old woman may have fallen off a ferry during its voyage from Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Mounties say the woman was last seen around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday on board a Marine Atlantic vessel while sailing from North Sydney to Port aux Basques.
A spokesperson for the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Halifax, says the woman is suspected to have fallen off the ferry.
A Hercules aircraft was sent to search waters south of Port aux Basques along with a Cormorant helicopter and a civilian aircraft on Wednesday, while the Canadian Coast Guard vessel Cape Roger retraced the ferry’s route.
Nova Scotia Power says it has meter readers who have started back out in the field this summer, reading meters at homes and businesses across the province. Nova Scotia Power says the meters have continued to accurately record energy use throughout the cyber incident, but they can’t send that information back to the billing systems right now. So, when billing resumed, most customers started receiving estimated bills based on past use. But, to provide customers with a bill based on actual energy use, Nova Scotia Power has temporarily returned to physical meter reading. Meter readers wear Nova Scotia Power branded clothing and carry an ID badge. Customers do not need to be home for their meter to be read.
The Race on the River – Pictou County Dragon Boat Festival is this weekend. The opening ceremonies are tonight at 6:30pm at Glasgow Square. Race day is Saturday beginning at 8am sharp. There will be on-site food trucks and children’s activities; over 35 teams; and 100-percent of all pledges raised go to Women Alike Breast Cancer Survivors Society, Special Olympics Northern region, and Pictou County Prostate Cancer Support Association.
Over thirty-five teams of twenty-one participants will compete.
