Work is to begin this September on the Broidy Park Splash Pad in Pictou. With a $300-thousand investment from the provincial government through the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage, the project will remodel Broidy Park. Officials say the splash pad will be designed with accessibility in mind and will feature a water recirculation system to protect the town’s water supply while supporting environmental sustainability. Leading the project is the Broidy Park Splash Pad Society, a small group of five women who have worked to bring the vision to life – doing everything from hosting bake sales and family fun days to securing private donations and corporate sponsorships. The goal is to open the Broidy Park Splash Pad to the public next summer, and the Town of Pictou will assume ownership and long-term operations of the facility.
