Provincial officials say the Long Lake fire in Annapolis County has grown to more than 32 square kilometres in size. They attributed the change in size to less smoky conditions, which helped in getting a more precise measurement.

Two men are facing numerous firearms related charges after New Glasgow Regional Police responded last Saturday to a call from staff at a local Inn who found a firearm while cleaning a room.
New Glasgow Regional Police went to the Inn and seized a loaded 9mm handgun and ammunition from the room.
When the two occupants of the room returned to the Inn, they were arrested on-site without incident.
Preliminary investigation determined that the firearm was stolen from a break and enter that occurred in Great Village in 2019. New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate.
The RCMP Northeast Nova Traffic Services recently patrolled construction zones on Hwy. 104 near Pictou and Antigonish. In just two days, 25 tickets were issued for speeding violations. One vehicle was towed as the driver was going 40 km/h over the posted limit, with a suspended licence, no registration and misusing a licence plate.
Violations included Driving over the posted speed limit, and Exceeding limits in temporary work areas
The Air Canada component of the Canadian Union of Public Employees says it has reached a tentative agreement with Air Canada to end a strike that saw 10,000 flight attendants walk off the job on Saturday morning. Air Canada says it will gradually restart its operations today after reaching a mediated agreement with CUPE through a process overseen by a mutually agreed-to mediator. The first flights are scheduled for tonight, but customers are advised that the airline’s return to full, regular service may require seven-to-ten days as aircraft and crew are out of position
A rural Alberta riding is sending Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre back to the House of Commons.
Poilievre has won the Battle River-Crowfoot byelection in rural Alberta.
Poilievre ran in Alberta after losing his Ottawa riding of 20 years in the federal election this spring.
