The Nova Scotia government has tabled framework legislation it says will address issues such as governance and safety within the province’s fire services.
The Fire Safety and Services Act commits the government to respond to matters identified in this year’s value-for-money audit of the Nova Scotia Firefighters School and in a new report from the Fire Service Association of Nova Scotia.
Consultation and public feedback on those reports will also help build the framework.
Municipal Affairs Minister John Lohr says once ready, the legislation will be introduced sometime next year.
A total of 10,843 students were enrolled in certificate, diploma, advanced diploma and graduate certificate programs at Nova Scotia Community College campuses across the province as of October 1 − the annual date for the College’s official milestone enrolment count.
