Two children are dead, and another man and a child are injured, after a boat overturned in western Nova Scotia.
R-C-M-P responded to calls of a boater in distress at Lake Rossignol, near West Caledonia, on Saturday.
Officers used a search and rescue helicopter to locate all four occupants of the boat and transport them to hospital.
Two children died of their injuries; another child and a 45-year-old Fall River man have non-life-threatening injuries.
Pictou County District RCMP say that a 52-year-old man who was reported missing from Quarry Island after last being seen on October Saturday in Lower Barneys River, has been located safe. The RCMP thanks the public for assisting through social media shares and offering tips.
Atlantic Lottery’s annual report says the corporation saw a profit of 498.7-million dollars in 2024-25 – an increase of 11.7-million dollars over the previous fiscal year. When broken down by province, the figures show that the organization returned 165.1-million dollars to Nova Scotia. The corporation says its increased profit is largely the result of its focus on strengthening its online offerings. Atlantic Lottery says it awarded 461.2-million in prizes in 2024-25, an increase of nearly 14-million dollars compared with the previous year.
A Water Restriction Usage Order remains in effect until further notice in the Town of Trenton. Residents are to LIMIT water usage to Cooking & Consumption; and Personal Care.
