There is a Special Weather Statement that has been issued by Environment Canada advising of some messy, wintery weather this week. Snow, rain, and strong winds are expected mid-week with the potential for 15 to 35cm of snow in areas with northeasterly wind gusts of 70 to 90 km/h. The stormy weather is expected from Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday afternoon.
The Winter Parking Ban is now in effect for the Town of New Glasgow and Town of Trenton. The Winter Parking Regulations are in effect as of today, between 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., until April 1st. Vehicles must not be parked during those hours on a town street in both New Glasgow and Trenton. New Glasgow Regional Police add that tickets can be issued and vehicles can be towed any time, day or night, if they are parked in a way that interferes with snow clearing.
New Glasgow Regional Police, the RCMP, and police forces across Nova Scotia have launched their Operation Christmas Campaign. The annual initiative focuses on reducing impaired driving and keeping Nova Scotia roads safe during the holiday season. Officers will set up roadside checkpoints during the holiday season to enforce impaired driving laws and share educational materials about the dangers of driving under the influence.
Central Nova MP Sean Fraser, the Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, has announced 7.1-million-dollars in supports for nearly 70 projects aimed at increasing tourism in Atlantic Canada. The support is through the tourism growth program. Fraser says the investments will help Atlantic Canadians showcase what makes the region special, while creating opportunities that last all year round. The projects that will receive support include infrastructure upgrades, new visitor experiences, and marketing initiatives.
Statistics Canada is set to release its latest look at the job market near the end of this week.
The agency will publish its labour force survey for November on Friday.
It’s the last major economic data point before the Bank of Canada makes its final interest rate decision of 2025 on December 10th.
