There was only a slight decrease in the price of diesel overnight in Nova Scotia, with no change at all in gasoline prices. The price of diesel decreased by 0.7 cents per litre putting the minimum pump price for self-serve diesel at $1.55 per litre in the local area. The minimum pump price for regular self-serve gas remains $1.28 per litre locally.
The governor of Oregon and the mayor of Portland are calling for federal immigration agents in the city to halt operations, after two people were shot in what the Department of Homeland Security says was a “targeted stop.”
Federal officials claim the driver tried to run down the agents, essentially turning the vehicle into a weapon.
It is a similar claim to one related to a fatal shooting in Minnesota on Wednesday, involving a 37-year-old mother from Minneapolis.

The federal government says 25 banned firearms were collected and destroyed during a six-week trial run of its buyback program in Nova Scotia.

The Nova Scotia government has announced a plan it says will improve equity and safety for the L-G-B-T-Q-plus community. It includes a commitment to boost funding for transgender and non-binary people seeking gender-affirming care. As well, the government is promising to provide training for police, corrections and victim services staff aimed at reducing bias and improving the safety. The plan notes that housing instability and discrimination disproportionately affect trans and gender-diverse people, as well as racialized Nova Scotians.
