The New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit has charged two people as a result of an ongoing investigation. On Thursday morning at about 6:30 a.m., police searched a home in New Glasgow, arrested two people and seized cell phones, weigh scales and bags, a large quantity of cocaine, methamphetamine and cash. A 39-year old New Glasgow woman and 33-year old Port Hawkesbury man are facing drug charges.

R-C-M-P say they have charged two men who allegedly fled from police in Antigonish County. Police say that on Tuesday morning, an officer tried to stop a pickup truck with an unattached Alberta licence plate and heavy damage to the front of the vehicle. Police allege the driver took off down a dead-end road in Pomquet Forks and crossed a river, getting the truck stuck on the opposite side of the water, and the driver and passenger fled on foot. Police say the 48-year-old driver was charged with flight from police and the 33-year-old passenger was charged with pointing a firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon.
There was a significant jump in diesel prices overnight in Nova Scotia, while gas prices went up slightly. The price of diesel jumped up 7.2 cents per litre, meaning diesel now costs you $1.68 per litre in the local area. The price of regular gas rose by 0.6 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at $1.34 per litre, locally.
Small businesses in Nova Scotia are reporting improved confidence for 2026, according to a survey from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB). Nova Scotia scored 60 on C-F-I-B’s Business Barometer for confidence over the next 12 months. The number represents a 3.1 per cent increase for Nova Scotia.
Organizations supporting the L-G-B-T-Q-plus community in Nova Scotia have a new way to access funding.
A community impact grant program will now provide up to 25-thousand dollars to help strengthen and stabilize non-profit community groups.
The province says grants can be used to cover administrative costs, help conduct work and better serve underrepresented communities.
The government has set aside 150-thousand dollars for the program.
