An increase in diesel prices overnight in Nova Scotia as the Nova Scotia Energy Board invoked the Interrupter due to significant shifts in the marketplace. The price of diesel in Nova Scotia increased by 6.7 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for self-serve diesel at $1.75 per litre locally. There’s no change in gasoline prices.
A man and a woman have been charged by Pictou County District RCMP after a pair of taxis were stolen in Antigonish last week. The two taxis went missing last Thursday and were recovered the next day, one in Mulgrave, the other in Stellarton. While police are still investigating the taxi found in Mulgrave, R-C-M-P say a tip led them to the Stellarton van and they arrested the pair at the scene. A 31-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man have each been charged with possession of property obtained by crime worth more than five-thousand dollars and will appear in court in March.
The province’s auditor general says public reporting on the provincial health system needs improvement so taxpayers can see if their multi-billion-dollar investment is paying off. Kim Adair released a new report Tuesday, saying changes are needed to how the province reports data on the health system. The Progressive Conservative government’s 2022 health plan promised to provide regular progress reports on topics like access to primary care and long-term care, the number of doctors and nurses in the province, among others. Adair’s report identified transparency concerns and found data issues in the province’s reporting on emergency department wait times and the number of patients who leave emergency rooms without being seen.
The Town of New Glasgow is advising that snow removal from the sidewalk median area will be happening in the Downtown on Provost St. (Jury St. – North Provost St.) and Archimedes St. (North Provost St. – Marsh St.) starting at midnight tonight to 8am Thursday. Traffic control will be in place for the duration of the work with road blockages in place, and there will be no parking on any of those streets as the snow removal operation takes place.
