Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Pictou County indicating that significant snowfall is possible. There’s the potential for 10 to 25 cm of snow from Wednesday into Thursday as a low pressure system will track south of Nova Scotia on Wednesday bringing snow to much of the province. Snow will begin over western Nova Scotia Wednesday morning and move eastward across the province through the day reaching Cape Breton by Wednesday evening. Snow will taper to flurries Wednesday night over most areas.

A two-part inquiry is being planned to look into last year’s cyberattack at Nova Scotia’s private power utility. The Nova Scotia Energy Board says one set of hearings will examine the technical aspects of the March 2025 cyberattack at Nova Scotia Power. A separate investigation will look at how the utility collected and stored customer data and how it estimated bills after losing communication with power metres. The cyberattack saw the personal information of 280-thousand customers accessed by a Russian-based actor, after which politicians said some people’s power bills spiked
During last week’s African Heritage Month Proclamation Ceremony, New Glasgow Regional Police were proud to recognize Sgt. Darryl Paris as the inaugural recipient of the Cst. Anthony Cordeel Thomas “Heart and Hands” Award. The award, created by New Glasgow Regional Police in partnership with the Town of New Glasgow, honours the legacy of Constable Anthony Thomas and recognizes individuals who reflect the values he lived every day: kindness, compassion, teamwork, humility, and a genuine commitment to serving others. Sgt. Paris was selected because those values are not occasional actions for him — they are present in how he leads, how he supports his colleagues, and how he shows up for the community every single day.
In sports, there was good news and bad news for Team Canada in women’s hockey at the Milan Cortina Olympics on Monday. The good news is Stellarton’s Blayre Turnbull and her Canadian teammates defeated Czechia 5-1 to improve to 2-and-0. The bad news is that captain Marie-Philip Poulin was injured on an illegal hit. Her status for today’s game against the United States is unclear. That game is at 3:10pm our time.
